It
was after midnight on a Smokey Tuesday in a frozen Colorado
Suburb. Six O’clock is hard at work mixing and rapping
lyrics about four bars at a time listening for while then
adding four more bars to his new track. This process went
on for about two hours Six running back and forth from the
booth to the control room; then after some frantic moves
with the mouse and twists of some knobs Six hits play...and
bang a track is rocking the speakers and the bass is vibrating
the floor of the control room like a jet plane is flying
over and all I hear is ‘party animal, pa, party animal’
as the beat drops. Six looks at me with a smile on his face
and just laughs saying...
“People
aren’t going to know what to do with this new music.
Most of these tracks I did this way just felt the vibe and
freaked it piece by piece. You can do that no pen and pad
stuff when you got the lab right in your own spot. There
are no time restrictions, or people buggin you...I can just
turn on the beats and get open as I want till my track is
just right for me”.
...After
staying up almost all night with a mass amount of coffee
drinking; it was clear that Six O’clock had a method
to his madness; and a vision for his new project. Titled
‘Night Shiftin: Life of the Party’ I understood
the meaning clear as day or should I say night. The concept
takes the listener on a wild ride through the many crazy
things that can happen to a person as they chase their dreams
in this wild world.
